Does anybody really know what time it is

In the midst of viral separation, we have all had time like we have never had before. Perhaps you used it to just relax or be creative. Maybe you spent it cleaning and organizing. A little of all of that happened here plus some pondering.

No longer sending my child to school and working on furniture all day, all of our plans changed in one day. We found ourselves, like everyone, home together instead.

A lot more of this time was passed outside on our land doing what I had envisioned when we moved here but haven't had the time to do - making a little homestead. Our thoughts were now switched to what can we do to sustain ourselves.

Our chickens are just a small part of our life but we decided it would be to our benefit to have a few more. And, since we have a rooster that we were not planning to keep until all this craziness hit, we decided to try out hand at hatching our own chicks. Our chickens are free range plus get an organic feed that is free of corn and soy so it was exciting to get chicks from our stock.

Although our rooster did his job fertilizing eggs very well, our hens never went broody so we knew we would have to get an incubator.  Four or five eggs were all we wanted to hatch at a time so just a small, simple incubator was all we needed. Once it arrived and eggs were put in, the fun began and the idea to send videos of the process to a few kids was born.

The excitement of getting questions from the kids and hearing their reactions when they responded back was a huge motivator. So I decided to try to post some videos that are more accessible to others and maybe make some worksheets since most kids are schooling at home.

Chickens, bugs, plants and other things will be topics covered as we explore God's amazing creation. Share with others and feel free to send questions.
